Your voice matters. Your truth matters...

“Fear is the number one way to control your soul. When you step beyond it, you step into your true nature as an untouchable soul.”
― Darius J. Wright

Two years ago, while visiting my mom in Brazil, I found out that the cousin who molested me was coming to our New Year's Eve celebration. The moment I heard the news, I went into a state of disarray. I wasn’t sure how to feel—because it wasn’t until recent years that I began to recognize what happened between him and me (I was 11, and he was 27) as abuse.

On top of that, how could my family accept him into our shared space after what he did? So many emotions were running through my body—anxiety, anger, resentment, and the big one: shame.

Often, survivors of sexual abuse feel shame because they somehow believe they are responsible for what happened. Facing that trauma can mean feeling the shame all over again.

Michael Hallett, author of The Generational Trauma, writes:

“We refuse to feel the shame because that would put us in conflict with the pain and self-judgment—and the underlying social polarisation—that created the trauma in the first place. Resolving it goes into the ‘too hard’ basket. All trauma is a refusal to feel shame. Self-judgment underlies all traumas. Shame overlays all traumas. Denial conceals all traumas.”

To truly heal, we must trace our trauma back to its inception. We must visit that dark space and process the pain out of our bodies. If we don’t, trauma will continue to show up in our lives—and affect how we show up for ourselves and others.

I had to face my trauma and dismantle the grip that shame had on my soul.

If you're facing that same grip, join me for a free 60-minute online workshop:

The nervous system only learns new stories when you stop playing the old ones. ― Chandresh Bhardwaj I met a guy online recently. We hit it off on day one—actually, hour one. Lol. We were so different but had so much in common. Everything felt easy, natural, smooth. That first night, we talked on the phone for 5 hours. It wasn’t butterflies—it was more like, “I feel like I know you.”Or like Gotye would say: “Somebody that I used to know.” A few dates here and there. He cooked for me, I cooked...

Prayer DOES NOT change things. ...it removes obstacles, guides, sustains, and connects. Everything that belongs to you is already yours. Just as in the garden, the resources were available before Adam and Eve’s arrival—EVERYTHING! So, what is the need for prayer if we know that all of our desires, when aligned with our purpose, are certain to come to pass? Check out my latest podcast episode, "Prayer DOES NOT Change Things," where I discuss how prayer can help bring clarity and certainty to...

Have you Heard of Complicated Grief? I hadn’t! Until I realized I was experiencing it. Complicated grief is a prolonged lasting reaction to loss.
